It would be nice If you saw these things The way things are Not the way they seem On the surface all faiths They may seem the same But different beliefs Bring very different ends And you yourself You try and prophecy About holy war About holy war And you yourself YOU make claims of truth So how are you Any different I said how are you Any different

In My Day 04:02
IN MY DAY – Hugh Wilson 2008 • In my day there was sunlight, and air and water. • We lived sustainable lives, focusing on the word custody, not ownership. • In my day people recognized that value was more than just human agreements exchanging variably rare goods. And that impact and necessity were of greater value than possession and leverage. • In my day the importance of incentives was recognized. But incentives were for the greater good. For long-term benefits. For the next generation. Incentives were not geared towards instant gratification, accumulation and preventing every possibly negative scenario that may or may not eventuate. • In my day there was no such thing as race. No clear delineation between one group of people and the next. Race was a thing you ran. Not a tan. In my day people had a dream that one day people would not be judged by each other. Period. • It won’t happen in my day • It won’t happen any other way • In my day what one did was more important than what one said. • In my day children were allowed to live. They had parents that didn’t kill them when too many bills came in. Or when a parent got a new job. Jobs weren’t as important as kids in my day. • In my day pregnancy was a consequence not a punishment. Controlling one's life was considered boring, and going with the flow and dealing with consequences was more important than trying to unring a bell and revert to a previously desired life course. • In my day we knew life began at conception and had clarity that no human should end human life. Period. • In my day humans were not considered possessions. To be discarded. Or owned. • It won’t happen in my day • It won’t happen any other way • In my day faith and science were inseparably conjoined. Faith helped science and science helped faith. In my day it was recognized that everyone had a worldview and that faith in ones doubts was still faith. • In my day a person’s politics was like a patchwork quilt rather than a monochrome wall. Left wing on one policy, right wing on the other. • In my day there was a semblance of democratic process. • Where people could speak up and vote for a guy they thought was the best person to run the place. • In my day, swimming in the ocean was the highlight of the day. As was a snowfall. • In my day, getting up at sunrise and going to bed at sundown was not abnormal. • In my day we ate parsnips.

I need to free my soul.... Watch another fall into history Curtains drawn on it all as it's always been Kingdoms fade into sand Distant memories Never learning at all As the cycle keeps repeating I got a homie who died Took too many zips from that colt 45 Tired and desperate of the ghetto existence He grabbed his cat and headed in persistence of Money Sex And the American dream Old fashioned way if you know what I mean Started off small with one or two guys Grossed twenty million by the age of 25 Give me your tired your young and your old I'll buy their souls for two ounces of gold How many children must die Before we open our eyes Land of opportunity and free enterprise God bless America and all of her lies Here we are again like deja vu Here we are again like deja vu The son will do as the father did And throw the first stone Another empire birthing thirsting for conquests of protection deflection is the name of the game it's insane all the same it's insane all the same it's insane all the same And if it's not oil it's tobacco and if it's not tobacco it's gold I'm told As old as the hills sold for a thousand million souls And if it's not gold it's iron or horses or sheep or land you can farm in due course As long as you own it And they don't And if it's not land it's silver or silk a road or a bridge to be built Like a pathway to greater riches Those sons of bitches When will little men learn Watch another fall into history Curtains drawn on it all as it's always been Kingdoms fade into sand Distant memories Never learning at all As the cycle keeps repeating I need to free my soul....

Get out of my face! (you got a problem?) Get out of my face! (you got a problem with that?) BUTCH: Walking down the beach with my girl (it's a sunny day) Don't want to be disturbed 'cause everything is ok My buddies Butch and Chucky come 'a wandering along Making bad kinda music for my serenade song I give a hint or nudge or two Kick Chucky in the head But they don't want to be leaving They're making time instead Now my girl is getting interested in Butch and his tattoo They're my friends but they aren't acting like it (what you gonna do) My subtle hints are useless and I'm losing ground So I grab Butch by the collar, start swinging him 'round And even though I like him, he's a groovy kinda guy There comes a time when I just have to say: "Get out of my face!" ROBOTIC DUDE: You've been thinking & I've been thinking I don't want you around no more I been cramping your style I don't want you around no more RANDY: Yo' check it out.... Walking down the beach with my pal (it's a sunny day) Don't want to be disturbed 'cause everything is ok My girlfriend and Randy come 'a wandering by Making bad kinda music for my wonderful friday I give a hint or nudge or two Kick Chucky in the head But they don't want to be leaving They're making time instead Then I'm talking to my girl showing her my tattoo She's my girl and she's falling for me (what you gonna do) So I'm making good time slowly winning ground When Randy grabs me by the collar Starts swinging me 'round And even though I like him, he's a groovy kinda guy There comes a time when I just have to say: "Get out of my face!" THE GIRL: Walking down the beach with a schmuck called Randy I realise he ain't looking so dandy Along comes Butch and Chucky his friend I don't think I like the scene that's coming 'round the bend They both kick Chucky and he's looking kinda hurt Butch is showing off by removing his shirt Randy does the dirty and he tries to make his play I think it's time for me to have my say "Get out of my face!"
