El Olam 04:25
1500 years or more and yet it still seems like a day I guess it won’t be long before all the old will pass away To Him a day is like a thousand years A thousand years is like a day So why do we hold all these fears When all will be as God will say El Olam El Olam El Olam El Olam - God Eternal El Olam El Olam El Olam El Olam - God Eternal Before the world God was and is and He always still will be Before the mountains rose and fell El Olam caused all we see Age to age he’s always been outside of time he has been free He simply calls himself “I am” He was and is and He will be El Olam El Olam El Olam El Olam - God Eternal El Olam El Olam El Olam El Olam - God Eternal Kingdoms rise and kingdoms fall Republics come, republics go But God’s the constant through it all Sustains the universe we know Someday all the works of man Will be as dust under our feet But the kingdom of God will never end The love of God is what we’ll keep El Olam El Olam El Olam El Olam - God Eternal El Olam El Olam El Olam El Olam - God Eternal El Olam El Olam El Olam El Olam - God Eternal 15 million years or more and it gets better every day

about

I decided to write some songs centred around various names of God found in the bible. I started with El Roi because the church I sang in that week, was preaching on a passage that featured it.

I was then inspired to write El Shaddai and Yahweh Nissi as my friend and pastor Milton Quintanilla happened to be preaching on them for subsequent weeks, in his online ministry from Brooklyn NY.

At that point I thought it might be nice to make an album, so I wrote El Olam, and then Yahweh Yireh for two more online services.

But then the Covid19 lockdown in Sydney ended, so I went back to singing in church live. I put the project on the backburner... I released four of the songs under "Followers of the way" on Apple/Spotify etc. But I realised I might never get around to doing another 5 songs in this vein, so thought I'd release these as an EP under my own name.

For my own enjoyment, for each song, I used a single microphone on every instrument, except for the last one I did, Yahweh Yireh. I enjoyed comparing the sonic character of each mic. I really like the lofi 70s retro analogue quality of the D190 for example. I'm a huge fan of each of the mics I used. They're an amazing extension of my instruments.

So I hope you enjoy these quirky explorations of who God is. Different aspects to who he is revealed through the biblical names used. It was nice to just focus in, and ponder each of these aspects.

And perhaps one day, I'll get around to writing more from the list of names.

Peace and love

Hugh
